The core innovation of the Logitech PRO X2 RAPID isn’t the switch itself, but the vertical OLED screen in the top-right corner. It moves key magnetic switch settings—actuation point, Rapid Trigger, SOCD, and lighting effects—from ”hidden software menus” directly onto the keyboard, allowing for real-time parameter adjustments during gameplay. Combined with KS-20 POM magnetic switches, a true 8K polling rate, and a six-layer acoustic structure, the PRO X2 RAPID’s design philosophy is clear: use a screen to transform the ”adjustability” of magnetic switches from a niche feature for enthusiasts into an intuitive function accessible to everyone.
I. Vertical OLED Screen: A First for ”Visual Adjustment” of Magnetic Switches
The PRO X2 RAPID is Logitech’s first magnetic switch keyboard to feature an integrated OLED display. Positioned vertically in the top-right corner, the screen serves a purpose far beyond mere aesthetics.
Users can directly adjust **Rapid Trigger sensitivity, actuation points, Key Priority (SOCD), and LIGHTSYNC RGB lighting effects** via the screen. This marks the first time that the core ”adjustability” of magnetic switches can be managed visually on the keyboard itself. Previously, tweaking actuation points or RT parameters required opening the G HUB software and navigating through menus. For users needing to switch settings mid-game, this screen compresses the workflow from ”Alt-Tab out → open software → change settings → Alt-Tab back” to simply ”glance at the screen → press a few keys.”
While more detailed customization is still handled by G HUB, the OLED screen focuses on ”quick adjustments” and ”status visualization.” This division of labor makes switching between usage scenarios intuitive—users can set shallower actuation and RT for competitive gaming, or deeper actuation for office work to prevent accidental presses, all without relying on memory or software.
II. KS-20 POM Magnetic Switches: Lighter Actuation Force, Finer Increments
The PRO X2 RAPID is equipped with Logitech-customized KS-20 POM magnetic switches. These come factory-lubricated and feature an actuation force of 30±10gf—lighter than the 35gf force found on the previous-generation PRO X TKL RAPID. The switches are hot-swappable, allowing users to replace them with other magnetic switches themselves.
The actuation point adjustment range spans 0.1mm to 4mm, with the step precision improved from the previous generation’s 0.1mm to 0.05mm. This level of precision approaches Wooting’s 0.1mm steps and the 0.01mm nominal rating of some domestic magnetic switches; however, a 0.05mm step is sufficiently fine for competitive gaming—a 0.05mm difference corresponds to a change in travel distance that is virtually imperceptible to the human finger.
Rapid Trigger also supports 0.05mm step precision, meaning the granularity of reset distance adjustments matches this same standard.
III. True 8K: Synchronized Upgrades for Scanning and Polling
The PRO X2 RAPID emphasizes ”True 8K”—featuring both a key scanning rate and a USB polling rate of 8000Hz. This contrasts with some products that advertise 8K polling rates while keeping scanning rates at lower levels.
This means the main controller completes a full key matrix scan every 0.125ms while simultaneously reporting data to the host at the same frequency. For magnetic switch keyboards, the scanning rate determines how often the controller reads Hall sensor data, while the polling rate determines how often data reaches the host; matching these two ensures consistent end-to-end latency. Logitech officially positions this as offering ”the most reliable, ultra-low latency input response.”
IV. KEYCONTROL and KEY PRIORITY: Comprehensive Magnetic Switch Functionality
KEYCONTROL allows users to execute specific commands or multi-action sequences on individual keys and supports multi-layer configurations. It addresses the need for a single key to perform different functions in different scenarios—such as triggering a combo or macro with one press in an FPS game.
KEY PRIORITY implements SOCD (Simultaneous Opposite Cardinal Direction) handling. Logitech offers three rules: Last Input Priority, Deepest Press Priority, and Absolute Priority. Users can switch KEY PRIORITY modes directly via the OLED screen without needing to access G HUB. V. Structure: Six-layer acoustic construction + aluminum alloy mounting plate
The PRO X2 RAPID retains its predecessor’s six-layer acoustic damping structure, combining PORON, IXPE, polyurethane foam, and silicone shock-absorbing materials to eliminate echo, reverberation, and metallic resonance. It features an aluminum alloy mounting plate paired with custom screw-in stabilizers (PCB-mount stabilizers) to minimize wobble in the Spacebar, Enter, and Shift keys.
The keycaps are made of double-shot PBT, and the keyboard comes standard with an XL-sized silicone wrist rest; it is available in three colorways: Black, White, and Magenta.
