  4. Razer’s new product teaser: RGB scroll wheel and thumb rest, signaling an iteration of the Basilisk series

On October 8, Razer released a teaser for a new mouse, officially described as combining „control, performance, and immersion.” The teaser image reveals two distinct design features: an RGB scroll wheel and a thumb-rest side wing structure at the rear right of the mouse body.

These features strongly point to a specific product series. RGB scroll wheels have frequently appeared on Razer’s Basilisk series, and the thumb-rest side wing is a signature ergonomic design element of that line. While Razer has significantly updated its Naga, Viper, and DeathAdder product lines over the past two years, the Basilisk and Cobra series have not yet undergone updates of the same magnitude.

The product iteration timeline for the Basilisk series offers a useful reference. Since the original Basilisk launched in 2017, the series has seen multiple updates, including the V2 (2020), V3 (2021), and V3 Pro 35K (2024–2025). The last major overhaul was the V3 series, which was released some time ago. In contrast, the Cobra series is relatively new; the Cobra Hyperspeed launched in July 2025, featuring the FOCUS X 26K sensor and an optical scroll wheel, making a major structural redesign in the near future unlikely.

Given the „thumb-rest side wing”—a clear indicator of right-handed ergonomic design—shown in the teaser, the new product is highly likely to be the next iteration of the Basilisk series. If this assessment is correct, it suggests that Razer is bringing its „comfortable grip + multiple side buttons” product line into its current cycle of technological upgrades. Following the Viper and DeathAdder series’ upgrades to 8K wireless, optical switches, and new sensor platforms, the Basilisk series may soon receive similar technological enhancements.

This development is worth watching for users interested in ergonomic mice. The Basilisk series is one of the few in Razer’s lineup explicitly positioned around long-term ergonomic comfort; its thumb rest and side-wing design make it instantly recognizable among mice featuring multiple side buttons. If the next-generation model retains these signature features while incorporating upgrades such as HyperSpeed Gen-2 wireless technology, Gen-4 optical switches, or a higher-spec sensor, it will stand out as one of the few right-handed ergonomic mice to combine a comfortable form factor with flagship-level performance. Specific specifications and the release date remain to be disclosed by Razer.
